Whippoorwill Community Church

A group of faithful believers saw the need to start a new church and invited a professor from nearby Grace College & Seminary to come and help launch the new ministry. In January of 1965 Whippoorwill Community Church was born.

Whippoorwill is a non-denominational Bible church made up of a loving believers from all walks of life. We know that God in his grace can transform us no matter what

So where did we get the unusual name? 

The name actually comes from the whippoorwill bird.  In the late 1800's there was a one-room schoolhouse located at a nearby crossroads. The schoolhouse caught fire and was destroyed. Then a new schoolhouse was built. Before the roof was completed a whippoorwill bird landed on the rafters. The small community then came to be called the "Whippoorwill Community." When the church came into existence, the church was then named the "Whippoorwill Community Church."
